Sandy Zimmmerman's Inspirational Story: Grievances Transformed into Love

We are very proud and excited to present this video from our Friday morning ACIM group which meets at Unity on the River in Amesbury, MA – ENJOY! This is Sandy Zimmerman – she has an amazing story of how her father committed suicide (shot himself in the basement when Sandy was 5 and she was upstairs eating breakfast and heard the gunshot) and how this affected her and how years later forgiveness healed her when she took her dad and herself off the cross.

  1. Thank you so much Sandy for sharing your story. I too have felt great sadness and unworthy. I too have put myself on the cross. Thank you for being such an inspiration! Love and peace Cynthia

    • Cynthia,

  2. A beautiful lesson on forgiveness…giving oneself freedom from the pain by offering it to another.
I needed to be reminded of this lesson. Thank you.

  3. Thank you Sandy
My “story” is so similar to yours, but I had been trying to overlook it by myself, rather than with the Holy Spirit.
Somehow, I had gotten the message that our stories had nothing to teach us, but I see that they are truly our forgiveness lessons – not our forgetting lessons.
    Bless you

  4. Hi Sandy, Thank you so much for your powerful story. I had been struggling with issues of feeling unworthy and codependency my whole life. I also went to coda and read the book. I stayed in a marriage for 20 years that was very violent. I have been away from it for about 10 years. While doing Living in Purpose, during one of the weeks on grievances, I realized I still haven’t forgiven my ex and have been struggling a lot since then. I’ve been very off with the course for the past month and having a tough time getting back with things. Nothing seemed to be clicking. Listening to you, the Holy Spirit brought to me I still need more work in that area with my ex. I haven’t forgiven him and let go of the past. Thank you for showing me that.

  9. Thank you, Sandy. It was inspiring to watch and listen to you speak. You so beautifully explained we are the messengers of God today, our voice is his, to give what we receive. I’m enormously grateful to be here learning this fundamental lesson.

  10. Thank you, Friends, for your kind comments! I love how Lisa talks about purification through water and fire…I needed to go through such a purification. I think the water for me involved tears and the fire was probably a good dose of anger! I feel like that was an important step for me to be better prepared to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and to receive the love that was always there waiting for me.
